Arthritis Support Group
What is an Arthritis Support Group?
An Arthritis Support Group is an opportunity to get to know other people living with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions and share similar experiences, learn from each other, discuss services, learn about new services, and advocate for people living with arthritis.
The aim of the Arthritis Support Group is to provide support and to share information on managing arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions in a friendly group setting.
What could I get out of the Arthritis Support Group?
Many people living with arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders report that a support group provides a wonderful opportunity to talk with people who understand.
Getting together can also help members feel valued, stronger and improve self esteem.
Members talking together can share lots of helpful information and tips for coping. This, as well as what is learned from group leader and guest speakers, can be of practical help.
Some members find that by working together they can even improve local services.
Guest Speakers include:
- Occupational Therapist
- Massage Therapist
- Aged Care Assessment Team
- Peer leaders
- Home Care Support Agencies
The Support Groups meets:
The 4th Monday of each month from 10.30am - 12 noon at Benalla Community Care Ray Sweeney Centre, 45 Coster Street, Benalla. Phone 5761 4500
Bring a plate of food to share or a gold coin donation for morning tea.
The Group is supported by Benalla Health and Benalla YMCA, and is affiliated with Arthritis Victoria.
