What is a Carer Support Group?

A Carers support group is an opportunity to get to know other carers, share similar experiences, learn from each other, discuss services, learn about new services and feel part of the caring community.

Seminars, workshops and speakers can be organised of carers wish.

The Benalla Carers Support Group is an informal and friendly group of people who care for partners, relatives, friends neighours needing help because they are frail or disabled.

Aim of the Carer Support Group

We aim to provide support and to share information on carying and coping with group members.

What could I get out of the Carer Support Group?

Many carers report that a support group provides a wonderful opportunity to talk with people who understand.

Getting together can also help carers feel valued, stronger and improve self esteem.

Carers talking together can share lots of helpful information tips for coping.  This, as well as what is learned from group leaders and guest speakers, can be of practical help.

Some carers find that by working together they can even improve local services.

The Support group meets:

The 1st Wednesday of each month from 2.30pm to 4.00pm at Benalla Community Care, Ray Sweeney Centre, 45 Coster Street, Benalla Phone 5761 4500 

Bring a plate of food to share or a gold coin donation for afternoon tea.
