Children exposed to family violence in Benalla

On Wednesday 12th August, Neil Stott with Sergeant Harry Verbaken, released the latest statistics for Family Violence in Benalla.

On Wednesday 12th August, Neil Stott (Director Community Health, Chair of the Benalla Family Violence Prevention Network and White Ribbon Ambassador) with Sergeant Harry Verbaken (Benalla Police Family Violence Liaison Officer), released the latest statistics for Family Violence in Benalla.

In Benalla Rural City out of 79 LGAs where Family Violence Incidents are reported to the Police:

  • 9th in the State for reported Family Violence Incidents.
  • 3rd in the Hume Region for reported Family Violence Incidents.
  • 2nd in the State for the number of children present during a Family Violence Incident.

They also provided a comparison of Benalla Rural City and every other LGA in the Hume Region, details of submission to the Royal Commission into Family Violence and information on what individuals and agencies can do to deal with this problem: A copy of the presentation can be downloaded here.
