Pre-placement orientation package
All students commencing placement at Benalla Health are required to complete:
- Student Orientation Checklist
- Students to Benalla Form
- Student Orientation Checklist - Work Experience
The following are required to be emailed to education@benallahealth.org.au at least one week prior to the commencement of placement:
- Evidence of immunisation including a completed Student Health Screening Form. More information is available from the Health and Wellbeing page
- Students to Benalla Form
- Police Check of no less than 12 months old.
The completed checklist and all other relevant documentation including documents sent via email prior to placement must be presented on the first day of placement. By completing this document you are stating that you have read and understood the material.
ALL student orientations will be 9:15am on your first day in the Michael Long Education Centre.
The purpose of this online orientation package is to help make your placement an effective and enjoyable learning experience by providing you with the information you need to know to begin your placement and to understand the organisation and workplace expectations.
Throughout the document you will see the following two symbols;
This means there is some extra reading to be done.
This means there is a task required of you.
All students commencing placement will have been sent a roster indicating where and when orientation will commence and which area you will be working in.
Allied Health students will also receive contact details of a clinical facilitator. If you haven't received your roster please contact your education provider (university)
All students MUST bring a current Police Check to be sighted at placement orientation. Statutory declarations are also required in addition to police checks for any staff or volunteers who have been a citizen or permanent resident of a country other than Australia after the age of 16 (Click here for more information). If you expect to be in regular, direct or unsupervised contact with children during your placement, a Working with Children Check is also required.
The Police, Statutory Declaration and Working with Children Check must be dated within 12 months of estimated completion of clinical placement at Benalla Health.
Failure to present the above documents will result in your placement being suspended until you can produce such documentation.
If you have attended placement at Benalla Health before, you are required to re read the material and complete and sign the Student Orientation Checklist.
The confidentiality agreement and the hand hygiene package are only required to be completed once every 12 months however, you still need to bring them with you for each placement to be sighted at placement orientation. All other documentation and medication calculations (if applicable) need to be completed each placement.
