CEO Blog, December, 2016

Benalla Health CEO Janine Holland gives her update about the achievements of the organisation.

As we head into Christmas, I have been reflecting on the last few months of the year. I would like to commend all staff for their ongoing dedication to our community. Benalla Health is a values driven organisation and I am very aware that staff consistently demonstrates their commitment to our values. This is reflected in the excellent care staff provide to our community.
A large crowd attended our Annual General Meeting on the 17th November to hear about our achievements from the previous year. Our guest speaker, Stephen Bradbury OAM was simply sensational. Thank you to everyone who attended and I hope to see you all at next year’s AGM.
The building works are progressing well in the Morrie Evans Wing. Staff are doing an excellent job of continuing to provide high calibre services to all residents and their families whilst there are tradesmen coming and going. I would also like to thank Diverse Builders and their subcontractors for being so considerate and respectful of the residents and our staff.
Our community and staff participated in the White Ribbon March on 24th November. There were around 700 people who took time out of their busy day to show their support and we now have some fantastic photos of people walking across the bridge, courtesy of the circulating drone in the sky!
The social media campaign that we launched to assist with the ongoing sustainability of our maternity services has been very successful. At the time of writing I am extremely pleased to confirm that we have been able to recruit some more very talented midwives to enable local women to continue having their babies in Benalla. The overwhelming support that Benalla Health received from our community, Board members, the general practitioners, midwives, nursing staff, Benalla Rural City and other interested people is very much appreciated. Our maternity bookings are steadily increasing and we are looking forward to the maternity ward being occupied by contented mothers and babies.
More than 130 staff, children, volunteers and Board members attended the staff Christmas breakfast on Wednesday 21st December. The weather was glorious and this happy occasion provided another opportunity to publicly thank staff for all their hard work during the year. The catering team did a fantastic job once again. The delicious breakfast food was appreciated by all in attendance. Keep a close eye on our Facebook page because you are sure to see photos of Santa and some of our artistic staff playing musical instruments and singing. I’m thankful (and I’m sure others are too) that singing Christmas carols, at this gathering, wasn’t compulsory!
On closing I would like to wish you all a happy, relaxing, peaceful and safe holiday season.
