Associate Nurse Unit Manager, Urgent Care Centre

Position Status: Permanent (Full-time and Part-time opportunities available)

Benalla Health is seeking suitably qualified and experienced Associate Nurse Unit Managers to join our Urgent Care Centre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Achievement of Registered Nurse competencies in accordance with criteria as prescribed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
  • Demonstrate well-developed communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrate a high level of skill in clinical decision making – in particular with problem identification and solution.
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated by knowledge of Human Resource policies and procedures, adaptability to workforce needs and performance management processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent nursing care in accordance with BH’s philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Quality Management and Accreditation processes.

This position requires flexibility in that the shifts required are 7 days a week. Occupational Therapist - Grade 2

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position offers the opportunity to develop clinical and management skills within an acute, residential and community health service.  The department caseload includes orthopaedic rehabilitation, medical / surgical inpatients and outpatients, day activities centre, Residential Aged Care facility, community services, CHSP, HACC-PYP and NDIS clients, and services to the Health Independence programs.

The Occupational Therapist may also be required to work on secondment to other health services in the area.

Personal Care Worker

Position Status: Casual

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Personal Care Worker (PCW) position is a clinical role responsible for providing high quality personal care to care recipients and clients at Benalla Health. Operating under the direction of a Registered Nurse or supervisor, this position is required to specifically assist Care Recipients with regards to their Activities of Daily Living and ensure their Social and Spiritual wellbeing.

Pre-requisites: Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent, Current Police Check and Current Working with Children Check.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Experience and/or knowledge in the care of care recipients of a residential aged care environment.
  • Relevant qualifications.
  • Demonstrated effective organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess knowledge of relevant legislation, including Aged Care Standards and National Standards
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver of excellent clinical care in accordance with Benalla Health philosophy, policies and procedures.

Physiotherapist

Position Status: Permanent (1.0 FTE)

Classification: Grade 1 or Grade 2

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working as part of a multi-disciplinarily team and in accordance with the objectives of the hospital and Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy Department, this Grade 1 Physiotherapy position is required to co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate effective physiotherapy services within Benalla Health and other contracted service sites.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Management of all referred clients from general inpatients, outpatients, aged care units and other contracted service sites
  • Liaison with other members of the patient management team, including medical officers, nurse unit managers and other allied health professionals
  • Education of nursing staff to carry out appropriate treatment plans to achieve overall physiotherapy goals
  • Sound ability to carry out physiotherapy assessments and choose appropriate treatment techniques
  • Ability to perform all electrotherapy techniques within safety guidelines
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Participate in physiotherapy student placements under the direction of the Senior Physiotherapist
  • To assist in planning, implementing and supervising physiotherapy intervention to referred inpatients and outpatients
  • To participate in educational programs when required.  To assist with the supervision of and provide an educative environment for physiotherapy students on placement
  • To attend relevant meetings when required, representing the Physiotherapy Department.  Ensure relevant information is presented at clinical meetings as required and requested
  • To participate in the organisation’s Health Promotion plan and speak at Community Groups / Sessions as required
  • To provide the required data pertinent to the operations of the Physiotherapy Department

Position Summary:

Working as part of a multidisciplinary Allied Health team, this position is responsible for providing high quality speech pathology care to patients / clients referred to the service, caseload comprises in the main pre–school aged children and adults with acquired communication disorders;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifying client needs and service priorities;
  • Planning, implementing and evaluating screening programs to detect communication disorders;
  • In conjunction with the Community Health Service Team - assisting in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion / illness prevention activities relevant to Speech Pathology Practice;
  • Coordination of speech pathology care provided to patients / clients according to assessed needs;
  • Counselling patients / clients and providing appropriate health education;
  • Participation in health promotion activities aimed at raising community and staff awareness about communication and swallowing disorders;
  • Continually evaluates care delivery, incorporating the results of personal research or the research findings of others in the delivery of care;
  • Contributing to patient care by accepting appropriate referrals and providing communication assessment and treatment of clients. Consulting with other members of the health care/education team where necessary;
  • Maintaining accurate and concise case management records for patients / clients;
  • Contributing to a creative, productive and safe environment for patients, clients, visitors and staff by demonstrating knowledge / attending training in / applying the documented policies and procedures relating to: the provision of speech pathology care; internal and external emergencies; infection control; occupational health and safety and safe work practice.
  • Participates in: the supervision and instruction of students and the in-service instruction ofother health care staff when appropriate;
  • Contributing to the development of services by critically assessing new developments and research based change in speech pathology - where appropriate assists in the design, implementation and evaluation of new procedures, processes, methods and supplies / equipment, participating in meetings and projects where appropriate.This includes participation as required in quality and accreditation related activities;
  • Complies in with the relevant Commonwealth / State legislative and non-legislative standards governing the profession, including those prescribed by the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.

  • Relevant Bachelor degree and Membership with the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.
  • Experience in Community Health or other equivalent field;

Theatre Technician - Grade 3

Position Status: Temporary (20 hours p/fortnight) from 12.04.21 - 04.10.21

Classification: Grade 3 (HH20)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting nurses in the set-up of the Operating Theatre for each case, including table attachments, electrosurgical unit, suction apparatus, tower assembly, microscope, tourniquet, plaster equipment and any other equipment deemed necessary.
  • Assisting nurses to position patient safely in collaboration with anaesthetists, surgeons and nursing staff and in accordance with Benalla Health Worksafe policies.
  • Perform safe and efficient patient transfer from theatre trolley to operating table and return on completion of surgery.
  • Assist with patient preparation for surgery e.g. pre-operative shave, holding limbs for surgeon to apply skin preparation and sterile drapes, correct placement of electrosurgical patient return electrode and safe tourniquet application.
  • Transport of equipment to and from the Theatre department as required i.e. microscope, image intensifier. Able to operate all equipment effectively and efficiently, and troubleshoot issues when required.
  • Conduct general maintenance of equipment so as to ensure a clean, safe and efficient environment for patients and staff. Report any malfunctioning equipment and remove from use.
