Generalist Counselling
What is Generalist Counselling?
Generalist Counselling is an opportunity to work with a professional counsellor to make positive changes in your life. Your counsellor will work with you in a safe environment to help you manage difficult situations. Counselling at Benalla Health is free. The length of the counselling session is approximately one hour.
It is important to feel comfortable with your counsellor. If you feel that you may not be able to develop trust with that particular worker, then we recommend you try another counsellor, rather than dismissing the process.
Social Workers/Counsellors at Benalla Health work with people 18+ experiencing a range of social, emotional and psychological issues.
- Anxiety/depression
- Grief and loss
- Adjustment to illness or injury
- Relationship/family issues (not couples counselling)
- Anger/stress management
As well as providing counselling for individuals and families, Social Workers can assist with referrals to other appropriate services when necessary. Social Workers can also be an advocate for their clients.
Cost
There are no fees charged for Counselling/Social Work services.
Referrals
A Referral can be made by telephone or in person or by a doctor or other health professional.
