Thinking About Starting a Family?

Planning a pregnancy is an exciting time, and there are many things you can do to support your health and wellbeing before becoming pregnant.

At Benalla Health, we offer information and education to help women and families prepare for pregnancy, understand the changes ahead and make informed decisions about their health.

Whether you're actively trying for a baby, considering starting a family in the future or are in the early stages of pregnancy, our team is here to support you.

Why Planning Matters

Looking after your health before pregnancy can improve outcomes for both you and your baby.

Things to consider include:

  • Maintaining a healthy lifestyle
  • Nutrition and healthy eating
  • Physical activity
  • Mental wellbeing
  • Reviewing medications with your GP
  • Taking folic acid if recommended by your healthcare provider
  • Managing existing health conditions

We encourage anyone planning a pregnancy to speak with their GP or healthcare provider about their individual circumstances.
